UCCS Collects a Seventh Place Finish at NCAA Regional Championships

LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's cross country team collected 212 points Saturday morning at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships in Lubbock, Texas.  The Mountain Lions' 212 points earned them a seventh place finish out of 25 teams.

  • Course: LCU Chaparral Ridge Cross Country Course

AROUND THE COURSE
  • Jagger Zlotoff was the first Mountain Lion to cross the finish line with a 10k time of 30:53.44 to put him in 27th place overall.
  • Gavin Harden registered a 35th place finish as he ran a 10k time of 31:08.32.
  • Four seconds and three spots behind Harden was Logan Cole with a mark of 31:12.86.
  • Jack Donze's time of 31:54.59 earned him a 53rd place finish as Brett Davis brought in the Mountain Lions scorers with a time of 31:59.62, good for 59th place.
                       
RACE LEADERS
  • No. 1 nationally ranked Colorado School of Mines led all 25 teams with a score of 43 points.
  • William Amponsah of West Texas A&M University earned the individual title, leading all 168 competitors with a time of 29:32.59.
 
BEYOND THE FINISH LINE
  • Zlotoff, Harden, Cole and Donze all posted personal best 10k times this morning.
  • Davis, Joseph Impellitteri (60th place, 32:00.10) and Michael Burke Jr. (66th place, 32:14.58) each ran their first career 10k race for the Mountain Lions.
 
UP NEXT
  • On Monday, Nov. 6, the NCAA will announce the 34 teams and 24 individuals selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Championship race on Saturday, Nov. 18 in Joplin, Mo.
