NEW ORLEANS, La. – In Week 2 of the United State Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association National Coaches' Division II Poll, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's cross country team moved down one spot to No. 5, while the men's program held onto their No. 14 ranking.
Two weeks after securing their highest ranking in program history (No. 4), the women's team moved to No. 5 in Division II with 207 points. Adams State University holds onto their No. 1 ranking after receiving all eight first-place votes for 240 points, as Colorado School of Mines moves up to No. 3. The Orediggers, who had a strong showing at the MSU Denver Roadrunners Invitational, flipped spots with the Mountain Lions in the South Central Regional ranking as UCCS moved to No. 3.
The Mountain Lions men's program, which has not competed as a team since the season opening UCCS Rust Buster meet on Sept. 3, hold onto their No. 14 ranking with 131 points. UCCS also holds firm at No. 5 in the South Central Region.
Adams State and CSM are tied for No. 1 in the men's Division II poll as each team received four first-place votes for 236 points.
The Mountain Lions women's team will compete this Saturday at 8:15 a.m. (MT) in the prestigious Live In Lou Classic in Louisville, Ky. A handful of Mountain Lions from each program will wear the black and gold on Oct. 1 at the Colorado College Ted Castaneda Classic.
