COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Two top-10 women's soccer teams faced off against each other Thursday night as No. 8 University of Colorado Colorado Springs played host to No. 3 Dallas Baptist University. The visiting Patriots took the season opener from UCCS, 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Thursday's top-10 matchup started with both teams trading shots and a pair of corner kicks. In the 25th minute, sophomore Jadyn LeDoux found the back of the net to give the Mountain Lions their first goal of the 2022 campaign.
- DBU tested Alexis Walker early and often in the opening frame, attempting seven shots with three landing on goal. Walker made three saves, keeping the Patriots scoreless in the first half.
- The pace was frantic to start the second half, putting pressure on both goalkeepers. In the 50th minute off a set piece, Sophia Schrock found a gap in the Mountain Lions defense to knot the game at 1-1.
- In the 75th minute, DBU sent a shot into the box that ricocheted off a UCCS defender, finding its way into the goal. The Patriots added another score in the 82nd minute, courtesy of Kathryn Mullis, extending their lead to eventual final score of 3-1.
STATS FROM THE DAY
- UCCS outshot DBU 17-14, with the Mountain Lions holding the advantage for shots on goal, 8-7.
- Seven different Mountain Lions registered a shot on goal. Sydney Lasater recorded a team high two shots on goal. Lasater also led the team with three shots.
- Makayla Merlo and Zoe Sims both played the full 90 minutes.
- Both teams registered five corner kicks, with a combined seven coming in the second half.
BEYOND THE BOX
- To follow up her stellar freshman campaign, Jadyn LeDoux kicked off the 2022 season by scoring her ninth career goal.
- Alexis Walker tied a career high in saves with five.
