KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team starts their 2022 season as a top-10 program in all of Division II as the Mountain Lions are tabbed No. 8 in the country, as announced by the United Soccer Coaches in their Pre-Season Poll on Tuesday.
Grand Valley State University sits atop the Division II Women's Soccer Poll after finishing the 2022 season as National Champions at a 24-1-2 record.
The 2021 Mountain Lions ended their season making the program's second-ever trip to the NCAA Sweet 16. After receiving a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed in the NCAA South Central Regional, UCCS knocked out Colorado School of Mines, 2-0, in the second round before coming up short to Dallas Baptist University, 0-1, in the NCAA Regional Championship.
UCCS finished the season 19-4 (10-2 RMAC) and was RMAC Regular Season Co-Champions as well as RMAC Tournament Champions, becoming just the second program in department history to win both the conference regular season and tournament title in the same year.
The 2022 season will officially start with a top-10 matchup as No. 8 UCCS will play host to a familiar foe in No. 3 DBU on Thursday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. inside Mountain Lion Stadium.
