HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Coming off a bronze medal finish in the shot put at the RMAC Outdoor Championships last weekend, redshirt sophomore Emily Arseneau kept her momentum rolling into this weekend as she broke her own school record in the event with a toss of 14.06m. Arseneau's mark also puts her name onto the NCAA provisional list for the women's shot put for the first time this outdoor season.
  • In the men's shot put, freshman Jarell Lucas came up just shy of a provisional mark with a personal best throw of 16.62m to finish in fourth place. Lucas then finished the day with another strong performance in the men's discus as he came close to a personal best mark with a throw of 47.48m for a fifth-place finish.
  • Redshirt sophomore Kamryn Bohlken took third place in the women's javelin throw as she uncorked a personal best throw of 38.55m that sits third all-time in the UCCS record book. Sophomore Caroline Walters was just behind Bohlken in fourth place with a toss of 37.10m. On the men's side, Seth Richmond was the lone Mountain Lion competing in the men's javelin throw as he tossed the spear 52.02m for a fifth-place finish.
  • Redshirt sophomore Anna Holland had a busy day at the throws ring as she recorded a mark of 51.08m in the hammer throw for a sixth-place finish before registering another sixth-place finish in the discus throw with a heave of 42.37m.
  • On the track, redshirt freshman Mason Ingallinera raced to a personal best time of 5:03.43 in the women's 1500m to finish fifth in the field of 18 runners. In the men's 1500m race, redshirt freshman Justin Banta was the first UCCS runner to cross the line as he clocked a time of 4:16.96.
  • Freshman Joseph Hamilton competed in the first open 400m race of his collegiate career and managed to clock a sixth-place time of 50.88s.
  • In the women's 800m, redshirt sophomore Michela Hewitt took fifth place as she clocked a time of 2:26.08. Fellow redshirt sophomore Ashten Loeks was one of just two competitors in the women's 400m hurdles and finished the race in 1:06.63 for a second-place finish.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Jarell Lucas' shot put mark of 16.62m registers as a personal best by over half a meter and ranks third all-time in the UCCS men's outdoor record book.
