University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball (14-24, 9-11 RMAC) rides a four-game win streak into Alamosa, Colo. this week as the Mountain Lions visit Adams State University in a four-game set beginning on Friday, Apr. 22 at 1 p.m. The series will continue with doubleheader action on Saturday at 12 and 3 p.m. with game four scheduled for 12 p.m. first pitch.

Last Time Out
- The Mountain Lions pulled off the conference sweep last week by downing Colorado Christian University inside Mountain Lion Park.
- In game one, both teams hit the ball around the yard and tied each other in hits at 18 apiece but it was the Mountain Lions who came out on top in the back and forth affair as UCCS registered 10 extra base hits to help claim the 16-11 win. A total of 12 Mountain Lion runs came across in the last four innings with five Mountain Lions having a multi-RBI day, including Caleb Stubbings who went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI.
- Game two saw just as many runs with 26 total as 21 runs went in the direction of UCCS for a 21-5 win. Starter John Hoffman tossed six innings in the win with four strikeouts as Stubbings upped his RBI count by one from the day before for six total in the first doubleheader game as Brandon Gabon joined in on the fun by plating four RBI of his own off a 2-for-3 day at the plate.
- The second game of Friday's doubleheader was a tighter ballgame from the previous two games but still went in favor of the Mountain Lions at a final score of 8-7. After CCU came back to tie the game 4-4 in the third inning, UCCS drove in three more runs in the bottom half of the third and grabbed another insurance run in the fourth with the help of Aaron Faragallah who notched a two-out RBI triple for an 8-6 ballgame. After 3.1 innings from Evan Langston and a CCU run coming across in the seventh, freshman Brock Weiss entered the game in the seventh and closed it out for the save with the help of Kiichi Sato who showed off the springs to rob a line drive base hit. Â
- Saturday's game four was the highest scoring game of the series at 30 combined runs as the Mountain Lions took to the long ball four different times while registering four doubles and a triple to take the 19-11 win. Eight different Mountain Lions recorded both a hit and RBI in the eight-run win drove in a pair of RBI off a 3-for-6 day that included a home run and double as freshman Kit Wigington also added two RBI after going 4-for-5 with a triple and home run.

RMAC Standings
- The Mountain Lions move back into RMAC Tournament contention by taking the No. 6 spot in the standings to sit tied at a 9-11 RMAC record with Colorado School of Mines (24-13, 9-11 RMAC) who sits in fifth.
- Colorado Mesa (27-9, 14-6RMAC) moves back atop the RMAC standings with MSU Denver right behind the Mavericks at a 27-15 overall record and 16-8 RMAC record.
- Taking up the number three and four spots in the conference standings are Regis (22-19-1, 15-9 RMAC) and CSU Pueblo (21-18, 12-8RMAC).

- The Grizzlies (6-28, 3-17 RMAC) have lost their last seven games with their last win recorded against Colorado Christian on Apr. 8 where ASU won 7-4.
- ASU is currently batting .289 on the year and are scoring 5.5 runs per game with 9.26 hits per game. Sophomore Mike Bathauer serves as the one of the top offensive producers in the Grizzlies lineup with a .344 batting average and team leading 42 hits, 10 doubles, and seven home run for 30 RBI.
- Brother Matt Bathauer sits right behind Mike at a .336 average but holds the team lead in RBI by driving in 31 Grizzlies, including eight RBI in a current eight-game hitting streak.
- Both Bathauer brothers along with batting average leader Cedrick Reynaud (.379) have all recorded 10 multi-hit games with Matt Bathauer having reached base in 21 consecutive games, and Reynaud holding a 14-game streak of getting on base safely.
- The ASU pitching staff has tallied six complete games on the season to tie for the most in the RMAC and 18th most in DII as Grizzly ace Alfredo Villa has been responsible for four of those complete games. In nine starts and nine appearances, Villa owns five of the team's six wins at a 5-3 record and has struck out 53 batters in 58.2 innings while owning a 4.14 ERA and 1.13 WHIP.
- Anthony Bleggi has served as the go-to out of the bullpen with 13 total appearances who has punched out 16 batters in 24.2 innings of work while posting a 13.42 ERA.

Hot Takes
- The Mountain Lions are on their longest winning streak of the season (four games) where they have plated 64 runs, hitting .449, and are boasting an .872 slugging percentage after claiming their first series sweep of the season.
- UCCS is currently batting .314 on the season 105 total doubles which ranks second in the RMAC and third in Division II. The team also recorded 33 extra base hits in the series sweep over CCU to bump their slugging percentage to .525 (fourth in RMAC).
- Leading the offensive charge is redshirt freshman Kit Wigington who is batting an incredible .446 average and impressive 1.230 OPS. The hometown native ranks second in the conference and ninth in DII in batting average as he also averages 1.72 hits per game for the sixth highest average in the country.
- Fellow redshirt freshman Caleb Stubbings joins Wigington as one of the top hitters on the team with a .355 average and a team high 47 RBI which also ranks sixth in the RMAC.
- Stubbings is coming fresh off a hot weekend where the starting first baseman drove in 17 RBI and hit five home runs as he now holds a .766 slugging percentage (fifth in RMAC) for a 1.167 OPS. After the stellar weekend, Stubbings is averaging .44 home runs per game and 1.47 RBI per game for the 13th and 16th highest averages in the nation, respectively.
- Freshman Macully Sehr currently holds the team's longest hitting streak of 12 games after going an impressive 11-for-13 (.846) in the CCU series.
- Starter John Hoffman picked up his first win as a Mountain Lion last weekend and now holds opponents to a .281 batting average for the second lowest average on the UCCS pitching staff.
- Freshman Brock Weiss registered his second save of the season against CCU to tie for the third most in the conference.

Award Winners
Caleb Stubbings earned RMAC Player of the Week for his first conference player award of his career as he moved on to earn NCBWA Regional Hitter of the Week and NCBWA National Hitter of the Week.

Stubbings was nothing short of impressive at the plate last weekend as the redshirt freshman hit .526 (10-for-19) with five home runs, a double, and 17 RBI. The starting first baseman had a home run and at least three RBI in all four games as he boasted a 1.868 OPS behind a 1.368 slugging percentage and 26 total bases. Stubbings started the series by going yard twice for his second straight multi-home run game of the season to tally five RBI. He then followed it up with another 3-for-5 day in game two for a series high six RBI, of which included a two-run home run.

UCCS Under Head Coach Dave Hajek
- Dave Hajek, who led UCCS to its first RMAC championship in program history, is in his sixth season as the Head Coach of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball program in 2022. He's coached the only MLB Draft pick in Zach Hall and the only All-Americans in Matt McDermott, Matt Clarke, Jake Anderson, and Evan Richards.
- In six seasons, Hajek holds a .544 winning percentage with a 128-113 overall record that includes, four RMAC Tournament appearances, one RMAC Tournament Championship, a 5-7 RMAC Tournament record, and one NCAA Tournament appearance.
