COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced their weekly awards on Wednesday afternoon, naming University of Colorado Colorado Springs jumper Dakota Abbott as the RMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
 
The redshirt junior earns his first weekly conference award of the season after posting a pair of huge performances in the triple jump to begin the 2022 outdoor season. At the season-opening meet on March 19, Abbott posted a national qualifying mark of 15.66m to finish first in the triple jump. The Amherst, Neb., native came back the next weekend to nearly match his season-best mark at 15.65m, once again winning the triple jump by a wide margin. Abbott's triple jump mark currently ranks as the top mark in NCAA Division II and is the No. 1 mark in the RMAC by 1.01m.
 
The UCCS men's and women's track & field teams are back in action this weekend as they will compete at the Maverick Classic on April 1-2 at Colorado Mesa University.
