ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team dominated Missouri Western State University Friday afternoon, 14-7, to earn their first win of the 2021-22 season. Today's result also marks the first win at UCCS for first-year head coach
Melissa Rausch.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Annalise Carr found Natalie Church three minute into the game to give UCCS a 1-0 lead, sparking a 5-0 run from the Mountain Lions as Church scored her second goal in six minutes along with goals from Holly Sodomka, Ava Goodnature and Carr.
- Goodnature's goal at 4:28 was her first career goal as Carr accounted for one goal and two assists, combined with Church's two goals and assist in the first 11 minutes of the opening quarter, 5-1.
- The Griffins' Sam Pruitt snapped the Mountain Lions scoring spree when she put her team on the scoreboard with 2:10 left in the first quarter.
- Hannah Koopal and Angela Naughton exchanged goals with Pruitt in the second quarter as UCCS took a comfortable 7-3 lead into halftime.
- After more than eight minutes of scoreless action to open the second half, Carr notched her fourth point of the game when she connected with Church at 6:30 before Audrey Napp snuck in a goal with 12 seconds left in the third quarter to boost UCCS' lead to six, 9-3, after three quarters of action.
- Both teams went on the attack in the final stanza as the Mountain Lions and Griffons combined for nine goals. Naugton's second goal of the game came with 8:23 left in regulation to give UCCS their largest lead of the match, 13-4, as they cruised to a seven-goal win, 14-7.
GAME STATISTICS
- Nine Mountain Lions scored at least two goals as Carr posted her first career hat trick. Naughton, Church and Goodnature added two goals apiece.
- Napp (three), Carr (two) and Church (five) combined for all 10 assists.
- Church posted a game high seven points while Carr added five points and Napp chipped in four.
- Carr and Koopal tied for game high honors with five shot attempts.
- Church won five of UCCS' 15 draws while Sodomka took three.
- Madison McGriff earns her first win of the season, playing 52 minutes and making eight saves while allowing just four goals.
- The Mountain Lions bested the Griffins in shots (28-22), shots on goal (25-15), and draws (15-9).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Two days after taking sole possession of the all-time goals scored at UCCS, Church set a single-game school record for assists (five), while her seven points tied Naughton for the second most points scored in a game.
- UCCS' 10 assists are the third most recorded in a single game.

- The Mountain Lions will return home to play host to Rockhurst University on Thursday, March 17 at 1 p.m. to begin a five-game home stand.
