CLEVELAND, Ohio – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced the Learfield Directors' Cup Division II fall standings this morning, and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is ranked No. 10 overall after amassing 193 points in the NCAA fall championships.
The Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in the 2022 NCAA Fall Championships.
The Mountain Lions women's cross country program stockpiled 80 of the Mountain Lions 193 points after posting their highest finish ever in program history at the NCAA Division II National Championship meet, finishing fourth out of 34 teams, which was highlighted by four All-America performances from
Layla Almasri,
Anna Fauske,
Kate Hedlund and
Riley McGrath.
At the same championship meet,
Afewerki Zeru led the UCCS men's cross country team to a 13
th place finish that brought in 63 points to the Learfield Directors' Cup standings. Zeru's fifth place finish garnered him his second straight All-America First Team honor, and it marked the highest individual finish by a Mountain Lion at the national championship meet.
Reigning in 50 points toward the cup standings was the Mountain Lions women's soccer team. Making their fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, the Mountain Lions defeated Angelo State University, 3-1 in overtime in the NCAA South Central Regional, before falling to No. 2 seed Colorado School of Mines, 2-1, in the Second Round.
Colorado School of Mines leads all 127 Division II institutions in the Cup Standings with 448 points. Nine of the 15 RMAC institutions are ranked in the fall standings:
