KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs Women's Soccer (13-2-4, 8-1-2 RMAC) makes a six-spot climb in week nine of the United Soccer Coaches National Poll as the Mountain Lions rank No. 19 in the country.
UCCS continues to get the job done on the offensive side of the ball as the nation's 15
th ranked scoring offense is scoring 2.68 goals per game while also accounting for Division II's sixth most assists (42), 11
th most goals (51), and eighth most points scored (144).
Defensively, the Mountain Lions have upped their shutout count to 11 clean sheets and a shutout percentage of .579 that ranks 26
th in DII. UCCS extends their unbeaten streak to 10 straight matches with opponent's locked up to no more than five shots on goal in each of the last six matches.
At a regional level, United Soccer Coaches has UCCS ranked third in the South Central Region behind No. 9 Colorado School of Mines and No. 1 Dallas Baptist University, respectively.
After week two of NCAA's Division II Regional Rankings had UCCS in the No. 5 spot, the Mountain Lions will await the final NCAA ranking with week three scheduled to come out tomorrow afternoon.
No. 19 UCCS now turns their attention to tomorrow evening with the semifinal stage set between the Mountain Lions and No. 3 seed Regis University in the RMAC tournament. UCCS and RU will kick off at 6 p.m. inside Mountain Lion Stadium with the winner set to advance to the RMAC Tournament Championship on Saturday, Nov. 5 or Sunday, Nov. 6.
