HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Lions' offense put early pressure on the Cowgirls, out shooting NMHU 4-0 through the first eight minutes of action with three shots off the foot of senior Abby Stassi.
- UCCS would soon break through in the 10th minute when junior Brooke Pavlich forced an errant NMHU pass that went right to Elise Broberg. Broberg went right back to Pavlich who netted her 10th goal of the season off her left foot to but the Mountain Lions up 1-0.
- The Mountain Lions slowed down a bit on offense over the next 20 minutes until Luka Johnson took a pass from Ally Henry down in front of the net and sent a shot inside the far-side post for the second UCCS goal of the afternoon.
- Just four minutes later, Henry joined in on the scoring action after she took a pass from Sophia Broberg to the top of the box and sent a low shot past the NMHU keeper to go up 3-0.
- With a three-goal lead, the Mountain Lions were not done, as they scored two more times in the final five minutes of the first half. The first came off a cross from Regan Dare to the far-side post, where Henry was once again there for her second goal of the day. The second score was also off an assist from Dare, as she sent a ball to the left side of the box for Johnson to send into the center of the nylon. UCCS kept its 5-0 heading into halftime.
- UCCS continued to apply pressure early in the second half, adding five more shots within the first 15 minutes, but failing to connect.
- In the 66th minute, Johnson would find Sophia Broberg on a through ball, leaving her with only the goalkeeper to beat. Broberg, however, would not score, as NMHU keeper Haylee Driscoll got to the shot just in time to keep the score at 5-0.
- The Mountain Lions would score two more times, as Taylynn Levi scored her first of the match, along with Johnson's third for her
