HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brooke Pavlich started off an eventful offensive outing for the Mountain Lions with a goal three minutes into the match. Charlize Ellsworth laid the ball off for Taylynn Levi, whose shot was deflected into Pavlich for the tap in. Eight minutes later, Pavlich slipped a pass to Levi with the outside of her foot, resulting in a diving top right save from Peppi Niemi. On the proceeding corner, Caytlynn Garland was given a direct red card for saving Ellsworth's header with her hand. Levi stepped up to take the penalty, but once again, Niemi came up with a terrific diving save.
- At the 20th minute, Pavlich rocketed a shot off the left post, nearly scoring a beautiful curling goal from outside the 18-yard box. UCCS found their second goal of the half in the 33rd minute, when Abby Stassi slotted Pavlich's through ball into the top left corner. The Mountain Lions recorded a staggering 23 shots in the first half to the ThunderWolves' zero.
- The Mountain Lions wasted no time in the second half, scoring their third goal of the game in the 48th minute from an Elise Broberg free kick. Broberg masterfully curled the ball around CSU Pueblo's wall as the ball found the top right corner. The ThunderWolves swapped goalkeepers at half, and Ella Bulfer made her mark on the game, producing multiple diving saves to prevent UCCS from scoring. Bulfer's best save came in the 73rd minute, when she dove to save Regan Dare's shot with her heel. On the day, UCCS dominated possession 77 percent to 23 percent. They outshot the Thunderwolves 36 to one, recording their most shots in a game this season and marking the second time they have held their opponent to one shot.
