COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer netted an impressive six goals in the match's final 20 minutes on Sunday to fuel a strong 7-0 victory over the Adams State University Grizzlies.

Series: The Mountain Lions own an overall 11-4-3 record against the Grizzlies with UCCS having won six consecutive matches against Adams State.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Mountain Lions got the scoring started in the 23
rd minute as a
Kaitlin Hinkle shot rattled the top woodwork and redirected to
Gabriella Lancaster who chipped it in for the 1-0 advantage.
• UCCS' one goal would be the only shot that found the back of the net for the remainder of the half as the Mountain Lions totaled 11 for the half while the UCCS defense shut the Grizzlies down to no shots.
• The contest's offensive momentum remained in favor of the Mountain Lions into the second half as UCCS fired off the next 10 shots before a penalty kick in the 72
nd minute resulted in
Fie Steenberg pushing UCCS ahead, 2-0.
• Steenberg's goal sparked an offensive onslaught with
Jadyn LeDoux as a pair of precise passes from
Sydney Lasater and
Makayla Merlo in the box put LeDoux in a position to bury the 77
th minute goal.
• Less than 90 seconds later,
Jessica Rockwell helped fuel the white-hot Mountain Lion attack after finishing off a double-assist effort from Lasater and LeDoux at the 77:54 mark to improve to a 4-0 lead over the Grizzlies.
• Then at the 80:53 mark, redshirt sophomore
Kendal Smith joined in on the offensive frenzy after fielding a set-piece from a
Fabiola Estrada corner kick to register UCCS' fifth score of the game with under 10 minutes left in the match.
• After netting her second goal of the season just a few minutes earlier, Rockwell made another scoring appearance for her second score of the game as she made a move to her right to get the keeper out of position while receiving a pass from
Kelsey Takahashi and finished it off with a shot in the right side of the net for a 6-0 lead at 82:28.
• One more goal came UCCS' away in the closing seconds as a quick UCCS corner was put into play and found a Grizzly in front of the net for an own goal as the Mountain Lions closed the contest out with the 7-0 win.
STATS FROM THE DAY:
• UCCS scored six goals off 18 shots and 10 shots on goal in the second half while shutting the Grizzlies out for no shots in the first half.
• The Mountain Lions dominated Adams State in shots, 29-2, shots on goal, 13-1, and corner kicks, 11-0.
• Jessica Rockwell comes away with a game-high four points off two goals with
Jadyn LeDoux adding three points of her own off a goal and an assist. Eight more Mountain Lions tallied one or more points in the match.
• Makayla Merlo registers a game-high six shots with
Gabriella Lancaster landing all three of her shots on frame for a game-high three shots on goal.
• Alexis Walker records one save as she moves to 9-2-4 on the season off her eighth shutout.
BEYOND THE BOX:
• UCCS tied for the program's second most assists in a single game on Sunday after tallying six while also scoring the program's fourth most goals (six).
• Gabriella Lancaster nets her first goal of the season as
Jessica Rockwell registers her first brace as a Mountain Lion.
• Jadyn LeDoux nets her team-leading sixth goal of the season as
Sydney Lasater claims her team best seventh assist.
• Kaitlin Hinkle has tallied one or more points in three consecutive matches.
• The Mountain Lion defense allows a season-low two shots for the second consecutive game as they also tied for the least amount of shots on goal allowed this season (one).
• UCCS extends their unbeaten streak to seven straight games.
