LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The No. 17 ranked University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team battled hard for 90 minutes on Thursday afternoon at Trailblazer Stadium, but ultimately settled for a 0-0 draw against the Colorado Christian University Cougars.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- It was a defensive struggle early on in Thursday afternoon's match as neither offense managed to gain much traction against the opposing defenses. The Mountain Lions would manage a pair of shots in the first half, while CCU was held without a single shot in the opening 45 minutes.
- The potent UCCS offense began to find some opportunities to begin the second half, launching three shots in the first three minutes of play following the intermission, but were unable to find then net, keeping the match scoreless.
- After CCU put a pair of shots on goal that were stopped by UCCS goalkeeper Declan Domyan in the 51st and 55th minutes, the Mountain Lions would go on to outshoot the Cougars 10-3 the rest of the way, with four of those shots being on net, but neither team was able to crack the scoreboard as the match concluded in a 0-0 draw.
STATS FROM THE GAME:
- The Mountain Lions outshot the Cougars 16-5, while also holding advantages in shots on goal (5-2) and corner kicks (8-1).
- Senior Kolby Raineri paced the Mountain Lions with five shots and two shots on goal, while Ben Ashfield three shots and one shot on goal.
- Jack Souder, Marvin Putu, and Liam McGuire also tallied a pair of shots each with Putu also adding one shot on goal.
- Domyan was impressive in frame as he collected his seventh individual clean sheet of the season while notching two saves in a full 90 minutes of action.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- In the Week 6 United Soccer Coaches National Rankings Poll, the Mountain Lions checked in at No. 17, marking the first time in 23 years that the program has broken into the top-25 of the national poll.
- With the draw, the Mountain Lions extend their program record unbeaten streak to 12 games.
- The shutout marks the ninth of the season for UCCS which is just two shy of the program record of 11 established during the 2016 season.
- With his seventh individual clean sheet of the season, Domyan moves into a tie for the third most shutouts in a single season and the fifth most career shutouts.
