1/19/2022 2:35:00 PM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced their third weekly conference awards of the 2021-2022 indoor track & field season on Wednesday afternoon, with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs taking home accolades on both the men's and women's side. After strong performances at the Potts Invitational at CU Boulder on Saturday, Jan. 22, Brian Mosley Jr. has been named the men's Track Athlete of the Week while Melissa Moreni was tabbed as the women's Track Athlete of the Week.

A native of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mosley Jr. earns his first RMAC Athlete of the Week honor of the season after placing in the top five in both the 60m and 200m races at the Potts Invitational over the weekend. The sophomore started the day by taking third place in the 60m race to improve his provisional time in the event to a converted 6.84s, which ranks tied for 14th in Division II and tied for the third fastest mark in the RMAC this season. Mosley Jr. came back later in the day to compete in the 200m, placing fifth with a raw time of 21.82s which ranks as the second-fastest mark in UCCS program history and sits third among RMAC indoor competitors.

Moreni also picks up her first RMAC conference award of the season as she was named Track Athlete of the Week on the women's side. The redshirt freshman took home the gold medal in the 60m hurdles on Saturday at the Potts Invitational as she raced to converted mark of 8.80s. Her time fell just short of her provisional time of 8.74s that she recorded back in December at the CRC Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi, which currently ranks first in the RMAC by a wide margin and 12th in the nation for the 2021-2022 NCAA Division II indoor season.

The Mountain Lions are set to return to action this weekend when they play host to the Colorado Running Company UCCS Invite on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Mountain Lion Fieldhouse.
