KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team received the United Soccer Coaches 2020-21 Team Academic Award on Thursday after boasting a 3.41 cumulative grade-point-average during the 2020-21 academic year, making it three consecutive years of receiving the award.
The Team Academic Award was created to recognize student athletes' commitment to excellence in the classroom. College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2020-21 academic year.
In addition to the 2020-21 Mountain Lions' team academic award, UCCS garnered a total of nine RMAC All-Academic awards including
Tarah Patterson who was voted RMAC Co-Academic Player of the Year. Patterson along with
Ella Fischer and
Amelia Junge all went on to be named CoSIDA Academic All-District and United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region selections. Both Fischer and Patterson moved on to become the program's third and fourth CoSIDA Academic All-Americans as Patterson also received United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American honors.
No. 6 UCCS recently comes off a 4-0 shutout win over Western Colorado University on Thursday and will now travel to Durango, Colo. to take on Fort Lewis College on Sunday, Sep. 26 at 12 p.m.
