ATLANTA, Ga. – For the fourth straight year, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball program has earned the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The Mountain Lions are tied for 13
th place in Division II with Saginaw Valley State University with a 3.684 GPA.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
"This is the fourth consecutive year that our team has been recognized by the WBCA as one of the top academic teams in NCAA Division II," said UCCS Women's Basketball Head Coach
Lynn Plett. "It reflects the fact that our players are truly student-athletes who take pride in their academic endeavors and have been able to balance the demands of being an NCAA Div. II athlete with their academic requirements. To accomplish this during a year with so many changes of how classes were managed and offered due to the Covid restrictions is especially remarkable."
This past season, eight Mountain Lions were named to the 2020-21 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, led by
Abby Feickert's (Flower Mound, Texas) First Team selection Earning RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll accolades were
Anna Davern (St. Charles, Ill.),
Maddie Golla (Phoenix, Ariz.),
Kaity Hovasse (Colorado Springs, Colo.),
Elly Johnson (Eagle, Idaho),
Ellie Moore (Phoenix, Ariz.),
Bo Shaffer (Lakewood, Colo.) and
Tatum Tellin (Grapevine, Texas).
UCCS is one of three RMAC institutions ranked in the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. Chadron State College is ranked 17
th overall with a 3.662 GPA while Western Colorado University is 18
th overall with a team GPA of 3.660. Lubbock Christian University led Division II with a 3.783 GPA.
