Forbes Posts Top-5 Program Mark to Qualify for 110H Final

Allendale, Mich. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track and field team qualified one Mountain Lion for a final race with Charlie Forbes racing to a top-5 program mark in the 110m hurdles on Saturday as another top-10 finish was notched by Hannah Meek in day two of NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Allendale, Mich.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Outdoor senior Charlie Forbes hit the ground running on Friday as the hurdler qualified for the 100mhurdles final on Saturday. Forbes competed in the second heat where the graduate student had a slow start but worked from behind to clock the third fastest time in his heat and the sixth fastest time in prelims at 14.14s, making it the third fastest outdoor time in school history.

After claiming national runner up honors in the long jump on Thursday, outdoor junior Hannah Meek competed in the triple jump where she notched a top-10 finish in the event and leaped to the second best outdoor triple jump mark in program history. In her third and final attempt, Meek registered a mark of 12.38m to take 10th place on the national stage.

UP NEXT
UCCS will have their final day of competition tomorrow as the Mountain Lions are set to compete in two events on day three of NCAA Outdoor Championships. Indoor National Champion Dakota Abbott and outdoor senior Will Ross will get the day started for the Mountain Lions in the triple jump at 9:15 a.m. MT. Later in the morning, Forbes will close the meet out for UCCS by racing in the 110m hurdles at 11:40 a.m. MT.
