Meek Jumps to National Runner-Up on Day One of NCAA Outdoor Championships

Allendale, Mich. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs track and field's Hannah Meek jumps her way to national runner-up in the women's long jump as the Mountain Lions finish day one of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hannah Meek headlines the first day of NCAA Outdoor Championships for the Mountain Lions as she jumped to national runner-up in the women's long jump. At a mark of 6.29m, Meek claims All-America honors and tallies eight team points for the Mountain Lions heading into day two.

In the men's long jump, both Peter Ackah and Will Ross jumped to a pair of top-15 finishes by finishing 10th with a mark of 7.28m and 11th with a mark of 7.24m, respectively.

At the track, Ackah made his second appearance on the day as he helped the men's 4x100m relay team run a time of 41.24s to finish top-10 as the relay team of Justice Mendoza, Brian Mosley Jr., Peter Ackah, and Charlie Forbes took 10th. The women's 4x100m relay team of Kayla Zink, Ashley Benton, Brittany Fuchs, and Hannah Meek notched an 11th place finish after racing to a time of 47.28s.

Outdoor junior and sprinter Kayla Zink was the top Mountain Lion finish at the women's 100m as she finished the race in a 12th place time of 11.98s. In Brittany Fuchs' first career national meet, the outdoor sophomore sprinted to a top-15 finish as she comes in at 12.12s to take 15th.

In the women's 1500m that had two Mountain Lions competing, both Riley McGrath and Layla Almasri posted top-15 times. McGrath clocked the fastest UCCS time by finishing in 13th with a time of 4:29.89 as Almasri comes in right behind McGrath with a 14th place time of 4:32.41.

UP NEXT
The Mountain Lions will be back in competition tomorrow on the campus of Grand Valley State University as high jumper Skye Ciccarelli, hurdler Charlie Forbes and long jump national runner-up Hannah Meek are set to compete. Ciccarelli will be in men's high jump at 12 p.m. MT, followed by Forbes 110m hurdle race at 1:25 p.m. MT, and Hannah Meek set to jump in the women's triple jump at 3:10 p.m. MT.
