COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse student-athletes
Natalie Church (Snohomish, Wash.) and
Holly Sodomka (Apple Valley, Minn.) lead 13 Mountain Lions on the 2021 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, announced today by the conference office. Church and Sodomka were voted to the RMAC All-Academic First Team while 11 more were named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll:

Jessica Berg of Regis has been named the 2021 RMAC Women's Lacrosse Academic Player of the Year. The All-Academic First Team members were voted on by the conference's sports information directors. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters. All student-athletes that meet those requirements, but were not named First Team, automatically qualify for Honor Roll.
Named to the RMAC Women's Lacrosse All-Academic First Team for the third time in her career,
Natalie Church competed in 10 games for the Mountain Lions this season. A Geography and Environmental Studies major with a 3.754 GPA, she led the squad in game-winning goals (two), free-position goals (nine), caused turnovers (14) and ranked second on the team in draw controls (26). Her 1.40 caused turnovers per game were the 10th most in the conference this season. She finished the season with 22 goals, seven assists, 29 points, 36 shots and 33 shots on goal. She tallied six hat tricks including a season high six points (four goals, two assists) in a road win against CSU Pueblo on April 3.
The 2021 RMAC Women's Lacrosse Summit Award winner and the 2020-21 UCCS Department of Athletics Female Student-Athlete of the Year, midfielder
Holly Sodomka owns a 4.00 GPA in Business. She started all 12 games this season, recording six goals and seven assists with 15 of her 17 shots landing on goal. A two-time RMAC All-Academic First Team honoree, Sodomka ranks seventh in the conference in draw controls per game (39 draws, 3.25/game), and has added 18 ground balls. Sodomka recorded a career high three points in an 18-15 home win over Fort Lewis College on April 16 after scoring a goal and assisting on two more. In the RMAC semifinal game against Colorado Mesa University, Sodomka registered two assists, one goal, won three draws, caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
Named to the 2021 All-RMAC Honorable Mention team,
Mallory Corrigan competed in 11 games for the Mountain Lions this season. A two-time RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll selection in 2019 and 2020, Corrigan ranks seventh in the league in assists per game with a 1.09 average. She assisted on 12 goals this season and scored 16 goals for 28 points. In back-to-back home wins against Fort Lewis College and Adams State University, Corrigan registered three goals and two assists in each game. She finished the season with 14 ground balls and five caused turnovers. Corrigan is majoring in Sport Management with a 3.554 GPA.
Redshirt-sophomore
Kyer Frederick competed in 10 games for the Mountain Lions and started two matches. She tallied five goals and two assists while landing nine of her 11 shots on goal. Frederick, who has a 3.606 GPA in Biology, recorded season highs in goals (two), assists (one), points (three), shots (five) and shots on goal (four) at Westminster College on April 20. She won six draws and added five ground balls and caused three turnovers 2021.
A Business major with a 3.650 GPA,
Hannah Koopal competed in all 12 matches for the Mountain Lions. The midfielder found the back of the net seven times. Both of her assists on the season came in a shutout win at home against Adams State University on April 18. She scored a season high two goals on a season high six shots in a 19-13 home win over Missouri Western State on March 19. Koopal chipped in 21 draw control wins, 13 ground balls and caused seven turnovers in her second season with the program.
Redshirt-freshman defender
Kathryn Kossack started six games and competed in nine for the Mountain Lions this season. In her second year with the program, she tallied 12 ground balls, won three draws and caused two turnovers. She helped the Mountain Lions to a 17-0 shutout win over Adams State at home on April 18. Kossack is majoring in Nursing and owns a 3.574 GPA.
A three-time RMAC All-Academic selection and a member of two RMAC Honorable Mention teams,
Kiera Lowe finished her senior campaign ranked second in the conference in shots per game (6.5), sixth in goals per game (2.42) and seventh in points per game (3.17). In 12 games this season, she tallied 29 points, nine assists, 38 points, 78 shots, 59 shots on goal, 14 ground balls, three caused turnovers and won two draws. Lowe found the back on the net in 11 games while scoring at least two goals in nine games and a hat trick in seven games. She netted a season high four goals in the season-opener against Westminster College on March 5 and in a road win against Colorado College on March 31. She added the game-winning goal in an 18-15 home win over FLC on April 16. Lowe led the Mountain Lions in goals, shots, shots on goal and free-position shots (13). She will graduate from UCCS with a degree in Accounting and a 3.580 GPA.
Senior defender
Sammie MacAffer saw action in five games and notched a start against Adams State on April 17, helping the Mountain Lions to a 17-0 shutout win at home. A Geography and Environmental Studies major at UCCS with a 3.515 GPA, MacAffer is making her third straight appearance on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
Sydney Malcolm is earning her third RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll accolade in 2021 and is a two-time RMAC Honorable Mention selection. The redshirt-junior defender competed in all 12 games this season for UCCS. She posted 22 ground balls and caused 14 turnovers. The defender posted a season high four ground balls at Fort Lewis on March 21 and again against the Skyhawks at home on April 16. Malcolm is earning a Biochemistry degree and owns a 3.701 GPA.
A sophomore defender with a 3.904 GPA in Nursing,
Anna Markham started eight of the 11 games she played in. She caused seven turnovers and picked up 13 ground balls while winning two draws. Markham added two assists on the season against Adams State on April 18 and in the RMAC semifinal game against Colorado Mesa on May 7.
A Business major with a 3.487 GPA, redshirt-freshman
Grace Martinez collected three ground balls in six games for the Mountain Lions.

Madison McGriff is making her first appearance on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll. In her redshirt-freshman season, McGriff started nine games and made 93 saves while posting a 14.38 goals against average. She leads the league in saves percentage (.514) and ranks second in saves per game (10.3). McGriff is majoring in Inclusive Elementary Education and has a 3.818 GPA.
Redshirt-junior defender
Morgan Miller started all nine games she played in this season. Earning RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll honors in the past three seasons, Miller picked up 15 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers. She posted a season high three ground balls in four games and caused a season high three turnovers twice. Miller owns a 3.619 GPA in Biology.
The Mountain Lions finished the 2021 season with an 8-4 overall record and third in the league standings (4-3).
