HOW IT HAPPENED | KIT MAYER CLASSIC
• UCCS' all-time outdoor marks were in jeopardy on Saturday as the Mountain Lions continued to rewrite school records.
•  The 4x100m relay team of Keyanda Bolton, Ashley Benton, Brittany Fuchs, and Kayla Zink who held the ninth fastest time in Division II improved on their provisional time while breaking the outdoor school record in the process. With a raw time of 46.14s, the relay team bested the field of competition as their converted time of 46.26s was a .06s difference from their previous time.
Outdoor junior Kayla Zink kept running her way to UCCS' outdoor all-time list as she sprinted to a 100m time of 11.96s to register the second fastest time in school history while also placing third in the event.
At the hurdles, it was Cameron Tracy who ran to a record-breaking performance as the sophomore clocked a first place time of 14.28s to set a new program record and new PR.
Freshman Rachel Richtman recorded an event win in the women's 3000m steeplechase where a time of 12:01.40 bested the competition.
• In the field events, the Mountain Lions' top-5 program marks kept pouring in. Senior Colton Homuth threw the third best UCCS outdoor marks in two different events with a heave of 16.01m in the shot put and a throw of 48.15m in the discus to place second in each event. Anna Holland also worked her way to two top-5 all-time program marks as the outdoor freshman recorded the second best throw in program history for the hammer throw (48.01m) and fourth best shot put mark (12.79m).
• Already the owner of UCCS' top hammer throw mark, outdoor freshman Justyn Loper notched a provisional mark of 56.91m to win the event in Golden, Colo. all while recording the second best throw in school history.
• Staying in the field events, the Mountain Lions took over the javelin where Caroline Walters and Kamryn Bohlken registered first and second place, respectively. Walter's event winning mark of 35.42m gives her UCCS' fourth all time javelin mark as Bohlken claimed the fifth all-time mark in program history. On the men's side, Seth Richmond recorded a mark of 51.33m to lay claim to three of the top-5 all-time outdoor marks for UCCS as his second place javelin mark ranks as the fourth best in school history.
• Senior Dawson Hopkinson added another event win for the Mountain Lions on Saturday as he registered a provisional mark of 5.05m in the pole vault to post the third best mark in school history, now making him the owner of the first, second, and third best marks in school history.
• Before the day was over, redshirt sophomore Afewerki Zeru gave the Mountain Lions their fourth provisional mark of the meet by clocking a provisional qualifying time in the men's 1500m with a converted time of 3:48.70.
