Mountain Lion Throwers Lead Day One at CSU Pueblo Early Bird Meet

PUEBLO, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track and field throwers headlined day one with two event wins at the CSU Pueblo Early Bird meet, hosted by Colorado State University Pueblo. 
 
INSIDE THE CSU PUEBLO EARLY BIRD MEET: 
Location: Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl | Pueblo, Colo.
Elevation: 4,914 ft.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The men's and women's javelin followed by the men's and women's weight throw were the four events that took place inside the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl on Friday.
• Freshman Caroline Walters fared well in her first meet as a Mountain Lion by throwing to a first place mark of 35.20m to win the women's javelin. Freshman Kamryn Bohlken worked to a top-5 finish in the same event after posting a mark of 30.68m in her first collegiate javelin throw to slide into fifth place.
• Outdoor freshman Justyn Loper joined Walters as the second event winner on the day by throwing his way to a provisional mark of 55.76m in the men's hammer throw.
• In the women's hammer throw it was freshman Anna Holland who notched a top-10 finish in the event after heaving a mark of 45.73m to finish in sixth.
• The men's javelin was led by Seth Richmond who came out as the top Mountain Lions finisher with a second place mark of 51.20m. Freshman Jaren Albrighton came to round out the top-5 in the javelin as he registered a throw of 46.34 in his last attempt to take fifth place.

UP NEXT:
Day two of the CSU Pueblo Early Bird meet will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the men's 5000m.
