Men’s Cross Country Finish Regular Season at Home Meet

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Six Mountain Lions represented the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's cross country team Friday night in their final home meet of the regular season at the UCCS Cross Country Open.  The nine-team meet was held at Cherokee Ridge Golf Course in Colorado Springs, Colo.

AROUND THE COURSE
  • Troy Cournoyer was the first Mountain Lion to cross the finish line as he posted a time of 27:30.4 to place 31st overall.  Three spots behind Cournoyer was Luke Rodriguez in 27:44.9.  Justin Banta (41st place) and Sean Graff (45th place) notched times of 28:23.5 and 29:02.6, respectively.  Rounding out the Mountain Lions was Walker Rudolph (53rd place) in 29:35.8 and Blake Ohlson (55th place) earning a time of 30:06.8.
                         
RACE LEADERS
  • Colorado School of Mines' Kyle Moran and John O'Malley provided the 1-2 punch for the Orediggers as they bested all 75 runners.  Moran led the field with a time of 25:20.8 followed by O'Malley in 25:38.4.
 
BEYOND THE FINISH LINE
  • Running their first career race as a Mountain Lion were Sean Graff and Blake Ohlson.
  • Nine teams ran in tonight's unscored meet.  Three teams hailed from Division I (Air Force, Colorado State and Wyoming), while four teams hailed from the RMAC (UCCS, Colorado school of Mines, MSU Denver and Regis).
 
UP NEXT
  • The Mountain Lions will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the 2021 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship meet, hosted by Colorado School of Mines at Applewood Golf Course.
