NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs cross country teams continue to rise in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Cross Country National Coaches' Poll (Week 4). Both programs moved up one spot from last week's rankings as the women's team is now ranked No. 6 in Division II with 199 points and the men's team is now No. 13 with 150 points.
On top of the men's Division II poll are Grand Valley State University and Colorado School of Mines as they are tied for first with 236 points. Adams State University moved up in the women's ranking and are now tied with GVSU for the top spot with 235 points.
The Mountain Lions women's program is coming off a stellar performance from last Saturday's Live In Lou XC Classic, held in Louisville, Ky. UCCS finished ninth out of 44 teams in the Division I dominant field, and they were second among Division II teams behind Grand Valley State.
On Tuesday, the USTFCCCA announced the Week 4 regular season regional rankings with the women's team staying at No. 3 and the men's program staying at No. 4.
Both teams will close the regular season portion of their schedule this Friday, Oct. 8 at the UCCS Cross Country Open from Cherokee Ridge Golf Course in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The 2021 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships are set for Saturday, November 20 at Abbey Golf Course in Tampa, Florida.
