COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer receives an award filled day with Emily VanGundy and Jade Kinsey garnering RMAC Player of the Week selections as the Mountain Lions also move back inside the top-10 by receiving United Soccer Coaches' No. 7 national ranking on Tuesday.

Earning RMAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career is redshirt sophomore Jade Kinsey. Kinsey played a big role in UCCS' pair of shutout wins over MSU Denver and Black Hills State University last week after impressive performances on both sides of the ball. Kinsey logged 147 minutes between the two matches where her and the Mountain Lions limited the Roadrunners to five shots on goal while shutting down the Yellow Jackets to just two shots in the match. She then went on to net the game-winning goal on Sunday against the Yellow Jackets off an incredible 45-yard strike to notch her first career collegiate goal.

In frame, goalkeeper Emily VanGundy was lights out last week as she takes home RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week. The true freshman got the nod for her first career collegiate start and the Mountain Lions could not have asked for better outings as VanGundy garnered two shutout wins over MSU Denver, 2-0, and BHSU, 5-0. In her first start, the Colorado native faced the most shots out of any UCCS goalkeeper this season with 17 against the Roadrunners where she collected five saves in the clean sheet win. VanGundy then came out to help limit the Yellow Jackets to just two shots on Sunday as she also bagged a save in the process.

It was a pair of dominating performances for the Mountain Lions with the offense continuing to what they do best, which is score. UCCS has the most student-athletes with a goal out of any team in the conference (14) as the Mountain Lions have the ninth highest scoring offense in the nation off 3.00 goals per game. Currently outscoring the opposition 36-13, UCCS has added 26 assists to total 96 points on the season to place the Mountain Lions in the top-10 (eighth) nationally in total assists and top-five in the country for total goals (fifth) and total points (fourth). On defense for the second time this season UCCS held an opponent to two shots and one shot on goal after posting their second consecutive shutout, and fifth shutout of the season, against BHSU. The UCCS defense has given up double digit shots in less than half of games this season (five) while also limiting the opposition to five shots on goal or less in 11 of the 12 matches.

No. 7 UCCS women's soccer is slated to play one conference game this week as they travel to Golden, Colo. on Sunday, Oct. 17 to battle Colorado School of Mines at 2:30 p.m.
