PREVIEW | Lacrosse Prepares for Home Game against Eagles

This Week's Games
  • The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team continues their five-game home stand this Thursday against Ashland University (Ashland, Ohio).  Action begins at 3 p.m. from Mountain Lion Stadium.

  • The temperature at game time in Colorado Springs will be inching toward 60 degrees with partly cloudy skies and winds coming out of the West-Northwest at 11 mph.

The Series
  • Thursday's match will be the first meeting between UCCS and Ashland.
 
Scouting the Eagles
  • Ashland University enters Thursday's match against the Mountain Lions owning a 2-3 record.  The Eagles are currently on a two-match losing streak, having dropped a 19-8 decision to Notre Dame (Ohio) and a 22-5 decision Tuesday afternoon at Colorado State-Pueblo.
  • In the Eagles two wins this season, they outscored their opponents an average of 18-9.  In their three losses, Ashland has been outscored an average of 19.3-7.6.
  • The Eagles are led by senior Sofia Michael who has scored 24 goals and added six assists.  Michael also leads the team in draw controls and (33) and shots (49).
  • Protecting the goal is Melan White and Jillian Rekulak.  White has played nearly 250 minutes and has registered a 15.35 goals against average and a 37.6 saves percentage.
 
Last Time Out
  • For the first time this season and the third time in program history, UCCS recorded a shutout last Thursday with a 15-0 win over visiting New England College.  Ten Mountain Lions found the back of the net and eight assisted on goals as Madison Ellis and Kiera Lowe paced UCCS with three goals each.  Ellis posted a team high five points with three goals and two assists to go with her team high five shot attempts (four shots on goal), including the game-winning goal.  All three of Lowe's goals came in the first half. 
 
Hot Takes
  • Angela Naughton leads the UCCS offense with a team high in points (10), goals (7) and shots (20).
  • Audrey Napp has won a team high 18 draw controls.  Holly Sodomka has tallied 12 draw controls and combined with Napp, they have won 57 percent of the Mountain Lions draws.
  • Goalkeeper Kennedy Travis owns a .534 saves percentage and an 11.4 goals against average. She has picked up a team high 32 ground balls.
  • The Mountain Lions, who are on a two-game winning streak, have outscored their last two opponents, 24-8.
 
UCCS Under Head Coach Christine Hatton
  • Head Coach Christine Hatton is in her fourth season on the sidelines for the Mountain Lions.  Hatton is 19-33 at UCCS and has coached 11 all-conference performers and 10 RMAC All-Academic players.
 
Upcoming Games
  • UCCS will open their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season on Saturday, March 21 against No. 14 Regis University.
