LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field teams held their own in day two of the Texas Tech Shootout as senior
Charlie Forbes topped the conference with the fastest 60m hurdle time.
In his first race of the 2019-20 indoor season, Forbes breezed to a provisional qualifying time of 8.10s to post the fastest time in the RMAC and finish ninth in the men's 60m hurdles. Freshman
Brian Mosley Jr. competed in the men's 60m qualifying race where he notched a ninth-place time of 6.97s as he bested 65 other student-athletes in the event. On the women's side, junior
Kayla Zink showed her speed by finishing as the top DII student-athlete in the women's 60m sprint with a finish of 7.73s.
The Mountain Lions sent out their 4x400m relay team of
Dillon Andrews,
Angel Laca,
Deshon Elcock, and
Darrien Wells as they worked their way to a 12
th place finish in the event. The 4x400m relay team earned their top-15 finish by improving on their season time by clocking in at 3:20.92.
Junior
Dejah Glover clawed her way through the women's 400m to post the best DII time in the event. The junior sprinted to a time of 57.98s to slightly edge out 31 other DI and DII student-athletes in the race.
Outside of the track events,
Colton Homuth produced the top finish among UCCS field student-athletes by notching a 10
th place finish in the men's shot put with a mark of 15.53m. Senior
Will Ross followed up Homuth's performance by registering a provisional mark in the men's triple jump with a leap of 14.55m.
The RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championships are next up on UCCS' schedule as the Mountain Lions are set to host the conference championship meet. The meet is set for Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, Feb. 29 inside Mountain Lion Fieldhouse.
