COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior
Jonathan Cowles of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team was voted Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week after his impressive performance on the bump against California Polytechnic University, Pomona on Sunday.
In his first outing of the 2020 season, Cowles secured the 3-1 UCCS win over Cal Poly Pomona after throwing a complete game on Sunday. In seven innings pitched, Cowles only allowed one earned run on four hits as he fanned four batters in the ballgame. After allowing one run to cross in the first inning, Cowles settled in nicely to pitch six innings of shutout baseball.
Cowles and the Mountain Lions will head back to California this next weekend as they take on Biola University in a four-game series with two days of double header action. The first two games are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 14 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. (MT) at Biola Eagles Field in La Mirada, Calif.
