COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field teams garner their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Athlete of the Week awards with sophomore Faith Novess and junior Peter Ackah selected as conference field athletes of the week.

In her first meet in nearly seven months, Novess cleared a mark of 1.70m in the women's high jump to provisionally qualify for nationals as she won the event at the MSU Denver vs. UCCS Dual on Dec. 11. With the stellar jump, Novess currently ranks fifth in all of Division II.

Ackah made his Mountain Lion debut and turned heads in the process as he leaped to an automatic qualifying mark of 7.75m in the long jump. The auto mark was made on his first attempt of the day and set a new facility record. More impressively, Ackah has the best mark in DI and DII, and currently the second best mark in the world.

With one meet officially in the books, the Mountain Lions will now look to Jan. 23 as they host Colorado State University Pueblo for the CSU Pueblo vs. UCCS Dual.
