COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced the 2020 Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Preseason Poll today, and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs has been voted third overall with 32 points.
Regis University is the preseason favorite with 49 points and seven first-place votes. Colorado Mesa University is second in the league with 43 points and one first-place vote.
The coaches' poll was voted on by all eight head women's lacrosse coaches. Coaches could not vote for their own institution.
The Mountain Lions are entering their fourth season as a varsity program at UCCS. They closed the 2019 season tied for fifth in the league standings with a 4-5 conference mark and their first ever RMAC Tournament appearance, and a 6-10 overall record. UCCS returns 19 letterwinners from last year's program, including 11 starters, while adding 12 new players to the program.
The Mountain Lions will open their season in 16 days when they travel to St. Paul, Minn. UCCS will face Concordia-St. Paul on Feb. 13, Upper Iowa University on Feb. 14, and Rockhurst University on Feb. 16.
