First USTFCCCA Poll Ranks UCCS No. 1 In Region

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field teams received their first week of USTFCCCA National and Regional rankings on Tuesday. The Mountain Lions rank within the top-30 on both the men's and women's sides with No. 28 (28.02 points) and No. 17 (50.68 points) rankings respectively, as both teams also notched No. 1 rankings within the South Central Region.

On the women's side, Grand Valley State University tops the rankings with 203.29 points while Tiffin University ranks as the top men's team in DII with 162.08 points.

For the Mountain Lion men, seven student-athletes have posted provisional marks so far this season with four of those marks ranking top-10 in the nation. Within the region, UCCS has 18 marks that rank in top-10 over 10 of the 16 indoor events, including three student-athletes that have the top mark in the region for their respective events including: On the women's side, five Mountain Lions have provisionally qualified for nationals with three of the marks ranking top-10 within Division II. In the South Central Region, their No. 1 ranking stems off a total of 32 top-10 marks within 13 of the 16 indoor events, including junior Hannah Meek who has the top mark in the women's triple jump with a distance of 12.26m.
UCCS' next meet will come this weekend with the teams splitting up to two different states to compete in two different meets. A partial group will head to Albuquerque, N.M. for the UNM Team Open on Friday, Feb. 1 with another partial group going to Golden, Colo. for the Mines DII Invite & Multi on the same day.
