COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The 2019 University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer signing class just got bigger as the Mountain Lions added Mountain Vista High School graduate Taeya Schueppert to the program.
"We are thrilled to have a player of Taeya's pedigree join our program," said UCCS Head Women's Soccer Coach
Sian Hudson. "Taeya has a track record of scoring huge goals for her teams, both at the club and high school level. Most recently being a pivotal player on Real Colorado's run to the DA national championship. She is a left sided player with outstanding dribbling ability, but also someone who is excellent at creating opportunities for her teammates. Taeya will add speed, technical sophistication and dynamic movement to our front-line next season."
Schueppert is a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo. where she graduated from Mountain Vista High School in 2019. Playing soccer since the age of four, Schueppert has seen success at every level, most recently with her club team Real Colorado as they won the US Soccer DA National Championship in 2018. The Colorado native has been no stranger to winning as she helped Mountain Vista to a state championship in 2017, while also earning MVP and a State Cup Championship in 2014. Schueppert has continued to hone in on her skills and round out her play by participating in the U17 Women's National Team Camp (2018), and US Youth Soccer Camp Trainings from 2013-17. Her outstanding play on the field reflects her hard work in the classroom as she graduated with a 4.1 GPA and earned Academic Excellence in all four years of high school. A member of the National Honor Society, Schueppert was also involved as a therapy dog advisor, Peer intern, and a Key Club member while in high school.
Schueppert and the Mountain Lions will begin the 2019 season on Saturday, Aug. 24 as they take on Oklahoma Baptist University at 2 p.m. for a home exhibition game at Mountain Lion Stadium.
