Mountain Lions Compete at Air Force Twilight Open

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field program traveled up the road to the Air Force Academy to compete in the Air Force Twilight Open on Friday, where distance runners and throws student-athletes competed for the Mountain Lions.

In the 800m, UCCS had a strong showing as Ellie Enderle surpassed 17 other competitors to finish in first place with a time of 2:16.96. On the men's side, four Mountain Lions cracked the top-10 in a field of 24 competitors as Willie Moore placed fifth with a time of 1:57.87. Evan Graff, Charlie Kieffer, and David Higgins then rounded out the top-10 with an eighth place, ninth place, and 10th place finish respectively.

The Mountain Lions continued to perform on the track as Maia Austin, Marah Guzman, and Molly Weir took third (4:52.82), sixth (5:04.13), and ninth (5:12.82) place respectively.

UCCS went on to compete in throws events as Sheldon Downs registered a provisional mark in the men's shot put with a mark of 16.84m. Colton Homuth followed right behind Downs as he finished in third place with a throw of 15.98m.

UCCS will seek to improve on their national qualifying list in a last chance meet at Nebraska University-Kearney for the UNK Last Chance Twilight Meet on Sunday, May 12.
