UCCS Bags a Third All-American Finish in Day Two of NCAA Outdoor Championships

KINGSVILLE, Texas – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Track & Field program notched one First Team All-American finish, and had two track student-athletes qualify for the final race on Saturday in day two of NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Javelina Stadium, hosted by Texas A&M University, Kingsville.

Sophomore Kaija Crowe started UCCS off on the right foot on Friday by taking eighth overall in the women's heptathlon with a new school record of 5,036 points. After posting a Second Team All-American finish in heptathlon in 2018, Crowe battled her way through the standings to grab a First Team All-American finish with the podium finish. Crowe began the day with the long jump where she took fourth with a mark of 5.74m, then finished strong in the 800m by finishing the event in 2:25.56 to take seventh and claim eight place overall.

Junior Will Ross made his first career NCAA Championship appearance where he finished 19th with a mark of 14.79m.

In the track events, Charlie Forbes and Skylyn Webb ran their way to automatic qualifying times for the final race in the men's 110m hurdles and women's 800m, respectively. Webb ran in the first heat of the 800m prelims and coasted to the fastest time in the field of 2:07.64 as she looks to defend her title on Saturday. Forbes followed up Webb with an automatic qualifying time of his own as he posted the second fastest time in the first heat of the 110m hurdle prelims. The Alabama native currently has the third fastest time going into the 110m hurdle final on Saturday.

As a team, the Mountain Lion women have registered four points over two days of competition.

UCCS' Webb and Forbes will look to wrap up NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday, May 25, as Webb is set to run at 5:05 p.m. (MT) in the women's 800m final, and Forbes set to compete at 5:55 p.m. (MT) in the men's 110m hurdles.
