CANYON, Texas – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Track & Field programs tallied nine top-10 finishes on the first day of the Eighth Annual West Texas A&M University Classic & Multi on Friday, hosted by West Texas A&M.
On the track side,
Cameron Tracy took the top finals finish for the Mountain Lions as she finished fourth in the women's 400m hurdles with a time 1:04.40.
Jalen Jordan raced in the top-8 as well and took seventh with a time of 1:05.12. Sophomore
Dejah Glover made her way into the women's 400m finals as she raced to a seventh place time of 57.83. Senior
Caleb Simons of the men's team competed in the men's 400m where he sprinted to a sixth place finish of 48.88.
In the women's long jump,
Hannah Meeks,
Jada Carr and
Amyre' Ellis helped shape the top-10 with fifth, eighth, and ninth place finishes, respectively. Meeks jumped to a provisional mark of 5.82m as Carr and Ellis leaped to marks of 5.70m and 5.65m.
Throws student-athletes
Colton Homuth and
Kelsey Calhoun made their way into the top-10 in the weight throw as Homuth threw a distance of 46.06m that placed him sixth, while Calhoun took 10
th with a mark of 34.18m.
UCCS multi student-athletes competed in the women's heptathlon and men's decathlon for the first time this outdoor season. Sophomore
Kaija Crowe took first place in the high jump and 200m in the heptathlon, to currently sit in second place with 3,074 points, as three events remain. Freshman
Sam Repsher also grabbed first place in two events (100m and 400m) to sit it in first place in the decathlon with 3,390 points, as five events remain.
Aleksandra Anderson and Ella Mckinna-Worrell are competing in the women's heptathlon as well, with Aleksandra in fourth place (2,677 points) and Mckinna-Worrell in sixth place (2,601 points).
Day two of the West Texas A&M Classic & Multi will kick-off with the 110m hurdles in the decathlon at 8:30 a.m. (MT) and the long jump of the heptathlon at 9 a.m. (MT).
