Repsher and Crowe Lead Day One of RMAC Championships

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field program set the tone on day one of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships with multi student-athletes Kaija Crowe and Sam Repsher leading the pack in Rapid City, S.D.

The men's decathlon and women's heptathlon were the only events running on Friday as five events finished in the decathlon, and four events wrapped up in the heptathlon.

Crowe and Aleksandra Anderson got it going for the Mountain Lions in the heptathlon as they finished first (14.65s) and third (14.91s) respectively in the 100m hurdles. The sophomore continued to top the competition on Friday by placing first in the high jump (1.60m) and the 200m (24.97s) to rack up 3,041 points and take first in three out of the four events. Crowe's strong first day gives her a 298-point lead heading into tomorrow.

Anderson continues to stay within striking range of a podium spot as she sits in fourth place with 2,625 points in the heptathlon.

On the men's side, true freshman Sam Repsher followed suit with Crowe by finishing in first place in three out of the five events to give him a 103-point cushion with a total of 3,455 points on day one. Repsher began Friday with a blazing time of 10.98s in the 100m to place first, and followed it up with top marks in the in the long jump (6.78m) and the shot put (11.61m).

The Mountain Lions will wrap up the multi events tomorrow with the 110m hurdles beginning at 8:30 a.m., and the heptathlon picking back up with the long jump at 9:30 a.m.

UCCS will look to carry momentum into day two of conference championships as the men's javelin, along with the 110m hurdles of the men's decathlon, kick off at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
