AZUSA, Calif. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Track & Field program competed in the Azusa Pacific University Bryan Clay Invite on Friday where junior sprinter
Deshon Elcock provided a top performance for the Mountain Lions.
Junior
Derek Valdez claimed a top-10 finish in the men's high jump as he posted his best mark of the outdoor season in the event with an eighth place mark of 2.01m. Indoor national champion
Charlie Forbes also recorded his best time this outdoor season. Forbes ran in the 110m hurdles where he finished in 12
th place with a time of 14.55s.
Elcock went on to compete in both the 100m and 200m dash on Friday as ended up posting s provisionally qualifying time of 21.10s in the 200m. The provisional time of 21.10s gives Elcock his second provisional mark in the 200m this season, and gave the sprinter a top-10 in the race as he finished sixth.
Sophomore
Hannah Meek of the women's recorded the top finish on the women's side as she leaped out to a mark of 5.72m in the long jump, coming up just short of a provisional mark.
The Mountain Lions will continue their California trip as they compete in the Long Beach State University Invite on Saturday. UCCS will also be competing in the Colorado School of Mines Nature's Bakery Invite and Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday.
