FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Track & Field program traveled up north to compete in the Fum McGraw Open on the Jack Christiansen Track, hosted by Colorado State University on Saturday.
UCCS combined for four event winners on Saturday to bring their second outdoor meet of the season to a close.
Junior
Will Ross leaped out to a provisional mark in the triple jump as registered the third best mark in all of DII at 15.06m. Ross finished with the best mark and set a new program record, giving him first place while also taking fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 6.87m (top DII finisher).
Sprinters
Deshon Elcock and
Kayla Zink both posted strong performances in the 100m and 200m dash as they each finished top-3 in the events. Elcock took first place in the 100m dash with a time of 10.63, as he turned around and took second in the 200m dash with a time of 21.37 to finish as the top DII sprinter. Zink also finished as the top DII sprinter both events as she took third in the 100m with a time of 12.17, while coming back to finish second in the 200m with a time of 25.22.
Competing in a field of 14 student-athletes,
Sheldon Downs bested DI and DII competitors by heaving a mark of 15.09m in the shot put.
The women 4x400m relay team of
Dejah Glover,
Ellie Enderle,
Maia Austin, and
Aleksandra Anderson (4:01.67) just beat out the second UCCS team of
Cameron Tracy,
Layla Almasri,
Grace Wenham, and
Diana Reynolds (4:07.01) to snag first place in the event.
Enderle, Austin, and Almasri also made strong appearances in the women's 800m as they grabbed third fourth, and fifth place respectively. Enderle led the group with a time of 2:13.42 to tally another top DII finish for UCCS on Saturday. On the men's side, a group of three UCCS middle distance runners made up the top-10 in the 800m as
Evan Graff (1:57.76),
Charlie Kieffer (1:57.80), and
David Higgins (1:58.12) took fifth, sixth, and eighth respectively.
The Mountain Lions had a great showing in the women's 400m hurdles as seven out of the top-10 times in the event were made by student-athletes in the black and vegas gold, as
Kaija Crowe led the way with a fourth place finish of 1:02.55, standing as the best DII finisher in the event.

Cameron Tracy,
Diana Reynolds,
Jalen Jordan,
Ella McKinna-Worrell, and
Grace Wenham all claimed the 5
th-10
th spots respectively.
In the pole Vault,
Dawson Hopkinson and
Brenna Kuskie made their way into the top-10 in DII with marks of 4.72m and 3.56m respectively. Hopkinson's third place mark places him tied for eighth in the country Kuskie's fifth place mark ranking tied for 10
th.
Staying on the field events side of the meet,
Jada Carr and
Hannah Meek jumped to fourth and fifth place marks respectively. Carr had a jump of 5.67m which ranks her eight in all of DII, with Meek's mark of 5.60m ranking her 13
th in DII.
UCCS women's team helped shape the top-10 in the 100m dash and 200m dash by having four sprinters finish in the top-10.
Brittany Fuchs joined Zink in that group of four with an eighth place finish in the 200m (26.10), and a sixth place finish in the 100m (12.41).
To keep the outdoor season going, the Mountain Lions will aim their sights on the Colorado State University-Pueblo Spank Blasing meet on Saturday, Mar. 30.
