INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On Tuesday, the NCAA released the first of three regional rankings (10/30, 11/6, 11/13) which lists the top teams in each of the eight regions in Division II. From the South Central Region, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team comes in as the number one ranking in the region.
Two other Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools cracked the top-8 regional ranking for the South Central Region with Colorado School of Mines ranking third, and Westminster College ranking eighth.
No. 1 UCCS has a perfect 15-0-0 overall record and an 11-0-0 conference record which places them first in the RMAC with 33 conference points. The Mountain Lions have already guaranteed the number one or number two seed and is set to host a round of the RMAC Quarterfinals, as well as an RMAC Semifinal match. UCCS is the only undefeated team in all of Division II and has chance to clinch the program's first ever regular season championship with a win this weekend.
The RMAC and the Lone Star Conference comprise the South Central Region where the top six teams out of the region will receive a berth to the NCAA Tournament. Winners of the RMAC and Lone Star Conference tournaments each receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
On Monday, Nov. 18 at 4:00 p.m., the NCAA Selection Show will announce the teams who have earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
UCCS finishes the regular season at home this week as they host Black Hills State University and Regis University. Their next match will be against Black Hills State on Friday, Nov. 1 at 4:30 p.m. for Senior Night.
