GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Competing in their final tournament before the RMAC Championships, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team placed third at Colorado Mesa's Maverick Spring Invitational on Tuesday.
The Mountains Lions had a pair of players finish tied for eighth place.
Alex Darwin and
Julia Baroth both finished the two rounds with +16 over par after shooting a 160.
As a team, UCCS shot a 650 (308, 342) and were just seven strokes behind MSU Denver and 11 strokes behind the hosts who shot a 639 (304, 335).
MSU Denver's Jennifer Hankins was the top individual finisher as she shot a 151 (74 77) for a +7 over par performance.
The Mountain Lions head south to Chandler, Ariz. next week as they compete in the RMAC Championships at Ocotillo Golf Resorts with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II West Region Championships on the line.
