DURANGO, Colo. –
Julia Baroth recorded her second top-five finish of the season with a 5-over 147 and led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs to a ninth-place team finish in the Skyhawk West Regional Preview today at the Hillcrest Golf Club. The Mountain Lions tied with Colorado State-Pueblo in the team standings with a 47-over 615 in two rounds.
Baroth tied for fifth and finished second among RMAC golfers in the tournament after a 4-over 75 in today's round. She recorded a birdie on hole 16 for the second straight day and led the tournament with an even score on par four holes.
Alex Darwin led UCCS today with a 2-over 73 and improved 18 positions for a tie for No. 13 in the standings. She made three birdies today in her lowest score of the season and finished with a tournament score of 150 for eight strokes over par.
Regina Dillon improved her score by a stroke today and finished with an 80.
McKenna Vanko closed out the team scorecard with an 81 in today's round.
UCCS recorded a 309 today at 25 strokes over par. The Mountain Lions tied as the top team from the conference. UCCS beat two teams that qualified for the NCAA regional tournament last season and finished within five strokes of three other qualifiers.
The Mountain Lions will be off next week before the final fall tournament of the season. UCCS will travel to Hurricane, Utah, for the Dixie State Fall Invitational Oct. 2-3.
