UCCS One Stroke Off the Lead on First Day of RMAC Fall Preview

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team opened with a 25-over 309 and is one stroke off the lead on the first day of the RMAC Fall Preview today at Fox Hollow Golf Course. Defending RMAC Golfer of the Week McKenna Vanko led three Mountain Lions in the top 10 with a 4-over 75.

Vanko tied for fourth after the first round and made three birdies in a seven-hole span. She is three strokes off the lead held by Colorado Mesa's Ashlyn Kirschner. Alex Darwin finished one stroke behind with a 5-over 76 and tied for sixth while Julia Baroth rounded out the Mountain Lions in the top 10 with her 6-over 77 and tie for eighth.

Megan Vernon turned in the final card for the team scoring with a 10-over 81. She is tied for No. 24 overall. Regina Dillon and Emily Nolley played as individual golfers and both finished one stroke behind Vernon with an 82.

The Mountain Lions stand one stroke behind Colorado Mesa with the 25-over 309 on the par-71 course. UCCS is three strokes ahead of Colorado State-Pueblo. The Mountain Lions will finish action tomorrow morning.
