UCCS Closes Regular Season Tuesday with Air Force at Security Service Field

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs will close out the 2017 regular season with a rematch of Division I Air Force on Tuesday, May 2, at 6 p.m. The Mountain Lions (22-24) and Falcons (22-20) will meet for the second time in a one-week span at the Colorado Springs Sky Sox's Security Service Field.

Tickets are $5 for all fans, and can be purchased online or at the gate on Tuesday. Parking and beverages are $2 as the Sky Sox observe its traditional $2 Tuesday promotion for the game. Fans unable to attend in person will also be able to follow with live stats and live video through GoMountainLions.com.

Air Force took the first meeting of the season last Wednesday with a walk-off wild pitch and error for a 9-8 decision at Falcon Field. The Falcons are on a six-game winning streak since the first game in a three-game series at San Jose State on April 21. The Falcons lead Division I with a .339 batting average and 2.88 doubles per game.

UCCS had three of its four games canceled last week at Colorado State-Pueblo, and fell in the lone game of the week 6-2 on Friday afternoon. The Mountain Lions clinched an RMAC Tournament berth with other results in the conference last weekend in the inaugural season, and Tuesday's game will serve as the final tune-up before the tournament starts next week in Grand Junction, Colo.

The Mountain Lions conducted the first practice in program history at Security Service Field last fall, and used the facility for practice and scrimmages throughout the fall practice season. UCCS played its home games at Spurgeon Field at Memorial Park, the same field used by the Sky Sox when the team returned to Colorado Springs in the 1980s. Head Coach Dave Hajek played for the Sky Sox in 1999 and was the hitting coach for the team in 2013 and 2014.
