Alex Darwin recorded her second top-10 finish of the season and led the Mountain Lions with a seventh-place finish at the Maverick Spring Invitational today. UCCS placed sixth in the team standings with the best tournament score of the season with a 60-over 636 at the Golf Club at Redlands Mesa.
Darwin led UCCS with a 77 in today's round, and with her 74 yesterday, finished with a two-round score of 151 for seven strokes over par. It was her best tournament score of the season by two strokes and the third-best score in her career. Darwin recorded her fifth top-10 finish of her career and first since her fifth-place performance at the Las Vegas Desert Classic last month.
Raquell Castillo shot an 80 today and maintained her No. 21 standing with a 15-over 159 in two rounds.
Regina Dillon improved her score to an 81 today while
Timbrelee McNair finished with an 82 as the two tied for No. 25 overall with a 19-over 163. It was the first time this season that the top four finishers for the Mountain Lions all finished in the top 25.
UCCS posted its best 36-hole tournament score of the season by a five-stroke margin after a 32-over 320 in today's round. The Mountain Lions finished fourth among the varsity-level RMAC teams in the tournament in the final tune-up for next week's conference championships at the Octotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz.
