COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After the first series sweep in program history, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs will head to Greeley, Colo., for a single nine-inning game against Division I Northern Colorado on Tuesday. The Mountain Lions (21-18) and Bears (14-19) at 3 p.m., at Jackson Field.
The game comes in the middle of an eight-game home stretch for the Mountain Lions, who went 4-0 against New Mexico Highlands last weekend will face MSU Denver in a four-game series this weekend. The Roadrunners went 2-1 against the Bears last weekend, with Northern Colorado's win coming at home.
Tuesday's game will be the first for UCCS against a Division I opponent, and one of two scheduled this season. The Mountain Lions will face Air Force on May 2 at Security Service Field, in the final regular season game before the conference tournament.
The Mountain Lions are third in the RMAC and one game behind second-place Regis with eight conference games left in the season. UCCS is third in the conference with 0.95 home runs per game on offense and a 6.07 earned run average on the mound.
Zach Hall is second in the RMAC with 0.26 home runs per game and is tied for the conference lead with 10 this season.
Colin Cicere earned his seventh victory on Saturday and is tied for No. 23 in Division II in wins.
Northern Colorado has won three of its last four home games and is 10-4 overall at home. The Bears have the second-best slugging percentage in the Western Athletic Conference at .422, supported with 1.85 doubles and 0.97 home runs per game. Jack Pauley is leading the offense with a .352 batting average and .616 slugging percentage. Anthony Brady is the Bears' top pitcher with a 1.50 ERA with four saves
