Alex Darwin earned her second top-10 finish of the season with a 9-over 153 as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's golf team finished fifth at the Dixie State Invitational today.
Julia Baroth finished out stroke out of the top 10 with an 11-over 155.
Darwin improved her score by one stroke today with a 4-over 76 and finished in a tie for seventh overall in the two rounds. She earned her 10th top-10 finish of her career today in her best tournament since the season-opening Colorado State-Pueblo Invitational.
Baroth tied for No. 11 and one position away from her fourth top-10 finish this year. She finished the tournament with five birdies and went 3-under on the par-5 holes.
Megan Vernon improved her score one stroke today with an 80 and
McKenna Vanko rounded out the team score with an 81 today. Vanko tied for No. 24 overall with a 16-over 160 while Vernon finished one stroke behind and placed No. 29.
UCCS improved its team score by a stroke in a 26-over 314 and placed fifth with a two-round score of a 53-over 629. The Mountain Lions finished 10 strokes behind fourth-place Colorado Mesa.
UCCS marked the 2017 fall season with its first tournament victory in program history at the CSU-Pueblo Invitational Sept. 4-5, and a runner-up finish at the RMAC Fall Preview Sept. 11-12. Baroth led the Mountain Lions through the fall season with a 75.75 stroke average and is on pace to set the program season record.
