Timbrelee McNair led the Mountain Lions with her second top-10 finish of the season as UCCS finished fourth at the Maverick Spring Invitational at the Golf Club at Redlands Mesa. The Mountain Lions finished with a 78-over 654 in their first tournament in three weeks.
McNair led UCCS with her second 78 round of the tournament and turned in at tournament score of 156 for 12-over par. Her performance matched her best score and finish of the season from the Fort Hays State Spring Thaw in her Mountain Lion debut on March 14-15.
Alex Darwin cut 13 strokes off of Monday's score and
Amanda Crites lowered her score by four today as the two turned in an 81 on today's round. Crites finished with her best tournament score of the season with a 166 and 22 strokes over par in a tie for No. 22 in the overall results. Darwin moved into a tie for No. 29 with a tournament score of 175.
Forre Zook accounted for the final team score for UCCS with an 84 to match yesterday's round. She tie
Raquell Castillo for No. 24 overall with a 168 after Castillo's 85 today. Zook finished in the top 25 for the first time since the RMAC North event on September and Castillo recorded a 168 for the second straight tournament.
The Mountain Lions finished third among the eight RMAC teams the tournament ahead of the RMAC Championships this weekend. UCCS will begin the 36-hole stroke play portion of the championship on Sunday afternoon at the Coldwater Golf Club in Avondale, Ariz. The top four teams in the stroke play will advance to a bracketed match play schedule on Tuesday morning.
