GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –
Timbrelee McNair shot a 6-over 78 to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in the first round of the Maverick Spring Invitational at the Golf Club at Redlands Mesa. The Mountain Lions are fourth in the team standings with a 42-over 330 in the 11-team field.
McNair is tied for fifth and five strokes off of the lead held by California State-Monterey Bay's Linnea Karlsson. McNair recorded her best opening round of the spring season and second-best overall.

Forre Zook and
Amanda Crites recorded scores of 83, 84 and 85, respectively, to round out the UCCS team score. Zook's score was her best of the spring season and matched her best opening score of the overall season. The trio all placed in the top 30 of the overall results.
UCCS recorded its best round since the second round of the Fort Hays State Spring Thaw on March 15. The Mountain Lions hold a 10-stroke lead over fifth-place Westminster, and are 15 strokes behind the second-place teams of Colorado Mesa and California State-Monterey Bay.
UCCS will compete in the final round tomorrow. It will be the final round before the RMAC Championships next week in Goodyear, Ariz.
