Megan Vernon led the Mountain Lions with a 10-over 82 as an individual player and tied
Alex Darwin and
Raquell Castillo for the best tournament score as UCCS finished No. 15 at the Otter Invitational at Black Horse Golf Course.
Timberlee McNair had the best round in the team score with a 12-over 84 today.
Vernon's round was her best of the season and a stroke better than her previous best from the first round of the Division II National Preview on Sept. 28. She was declared as an individual golfer before the tournament began and her score won't be included in the Mountain Lion team score, but she turned in a 36-hole score of 168 to finish in a tie for No. 64.
McNair improved by five strokes from yesterday with her 84 today and had the low score for the UCCS team calculation. She finished No. 77 overall with a tournament score of 173. Darwin and Castillo tied with Vernon with a 168 after today's scores of 88 and 87, respectively.
Forre Zook was the final team score for UCCS with an 88 and tied for No. 72 in the tournament with a 171.
Amanda Crites turned in a tournament score of 184 with rounds of 90 and 94 this week.
The Mountain Lions will be off the next two weeks ahead of the Maverick Invitational April 11-12 at the Golf Club of Redlands Mesa. The tournament will be the final tune-up before the RMAC Championships April 18-19.
