MESA, Ariz. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs shot a season-best 314 for 26-over par in the best round of the season and placed second in the best team finish in program history at the Fort Hays State Spring Thaw at Dobson Ranch Golf Course. The Mountain Lions recorded a 36-hole score of 639 for 63-over par in the best tournament score of the 2015-16 season.
Alex Darwin matched her best finish in her career and led UCCS with a sixth-place finish with a 155 for 11-over par in the two rounds. She shot a 78 in today's round in her second top-10 finish of the season and the fourth of her career. Darwin was one stroke out of a four-way tie for second.
Timberlee McNair led the Mountain Lions on the second day and had the third-best score overall in the tournament with a 74 to improve six positions to eighth today. She finished with a 156 for 12-over par in her first tournament as a Mountain Lion as UCCS put two golfers in the top 10 of the overall results.
Raquell Castillo made the biggest jump among the Mountain Lions today after a seven-stroke improvement to 77 today. She moved up nine positions in the overall standings into a tie for No. 11 and posted a 161 in the two rounds.
Amanda Crites turned in an 85 today to round out the UCCS team score and tied for No. 21 overall with a tournament score of 167.
The Mountain Lions will be back in action again next week March 21-22 at the Otter Invitational hosted by California State-Monterey Bay at Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, Calif.
